Well done, those people.

Oddly enough, I don't see Pastor Danny Nalliah in this photo.

I don't think much more needs be said, do you?

The irony is that if there's a heaven administered by a God that loves us, those in the photo will get in, and the Pastor will not.

His mate Costello isn't there either

Talking of which...Persey how is that book coming along?

I'd agree with you Perseus but Witchie will make some disparaging remark like, "There's bloody Wari and Perseus patting each other on the back again".

So I'll agree with Squib's comment on the other thread. The commercial coverage is atrocious. Not all of them but the blatant falseness of the majority of the journalists makes me sick. Bloody Karl Stefanovic on Today this morning was really getting under my skin so I switched to Sunrise and there's that fucking Mel asking some bloke how his father died (WTF?) and they've dubbed some pathetic music in the background while he's talking. Self serving shit at a time this this? They ought to be ashamed of themselves.

I was somewhat reluctant to make this comment out of respect for professional journos with genuine compassion and a link to the reality of this disaster (eg; Jamie), but who lets knobheads like these breakfast show announcers cover something like this?

Ramon Insertnamehere said...

I don't know if I'd call Karl Stefanovic a journo, Wari.

A "knobend", possibly.

I met him up here at a fundraising dinner and a knobend or knobhead he is. A friend of mine's wife went to a breakfast with him where there was only about a dozen people and her comment was, "He's one of the vainest men I've ever met in my life. Funny how we never see his bald patch on TV"

As I said I was a bit reluctant to offend real journos, but the coverage is really awful. I'm watching the BBC World News, the coverage is objective and genuinely compassionate.

9 news ran this whole thing last night where they patted themselves on the back for organising a helicopter to reunite a woman with her husband while 50 cameras watched on. They flew the poor woman over the devastation and she was really upset

But, okay this is petty, did anyone SEE what Lee Lin Chin was wearing on the Sunday? She could have worn something a bit sombre - she was dressed like a mutant Christmas candy cane

Is he a knob-end or a knob-head? OR a combination of both? A knob-head-end?

And where's the ghost of Richard Carleton when you need him?

Squib - What? She couldn't get a Drizabone?

Boogey - Don't make me wish Karl dead, don't. But he was down there at that bloody mine thing too.

But Perseus, we know there's no heaven and no God that loves us.

You should have said "if there were" but now, I have my doubts about your commitment to our atheistic cause.

I asked on the other thread whether Nalliah was connected to that Costello church, Hillsong. So, he is? I just can't remember, my recall for what idiots get up to is a little patchy.

squib said...

Just three weeks ago, the former federal treasurer sent a video message to a special Australia Day prayer meeting organised by Catch the Fire Ministries leader Danny Nalliah. Melba does this help?

Wari I'd like to see a Drizabone by her favourite designers

I'd like to see Lee Lin in a Drizabone and nothing else.

Or is that inappropriate?

Good news today. I've been worried sick about my friend Rosie in Narbethong. Just got word that only three buildings remain standing there.

Rosies house.
Rosies shop.
The pub.

Ramon Insertnamehere said...

That is indeed good news, Mr E.

WitchOne said...

I love how pubs are being saved all over the place. Houses? Meh. Shops? HA, we laugh at shops.

The pub though, we protect the pub before all else!

squib said...

This will probably sound stupid. But is it not possible to build underground fire shelters in bushfire prone areas, either large community ones or small individual ones?

Ramon Insertnamehere said...

What about underground pubs?

Seriously, that's some of the questions the Royal Commission will be looking at.

squib said...

There's a shelter here

http://www.bomb-shelter.net/sp6-disaster-bomb-shelter

and it shows that obviously during a fire you would not use the air vent but there's a graph that shows how long the oxygen would last, depending on the number of people

It reminds me of the women and child who hid in a wombat hole during the blaze

WItchOne, it's likely that the pub was built of stone, or steel framed, or something.

Squib, women, as in plural? That was some big wombat hole.

Needless to say, I'd hate to meet the wombat that owned that hole.

squib said...

Yes 2 women, 1 child, and a dog. It was some wombat

We all know that Karl Stefanovic is a Robot, unable to show or understand human emotion...

Karl reminds me of someone I know - they were once described as spending 99% of the time in front of the mirror and the other 1% having a useful thought. I find him a bit wierd, he'd like to be considered one of the blokes but no ones buying it.

As for fire bunkers - I always thought it was a good idea too. The Americans seem to often build basements in their houses they can hide from hurricanes in and also use for storage - I bet building in high risk fire areas will be revised and made much toughter now - perhaps such fire bunkers could become mandatory in building new homes. I saw one couple on tele that survived by standing neck deep in their dam and ducking their heads under water frequently, the front passed over so quickly oxygen mustn't have been an issue so maybe it wouldnt be a big deal in bunkers either - its not like you're going to be down there for long.

That's it Patch. I wonder if Cameron Williams hates (probably too strong a word, but who cares?)him too? But word is he's a bit of an arsehole too. There was something about him abusing staff in a restaurant I rememember, and the Cleo thing of course.

I think fire bunkers are a bit excessive considering it's been about 25 years between Ash Wednesday and *insert new buzz word here* Saturday.

Basements on the other hand, very good idea, they are able to cope with the population (of the house they're under), they will never be mismanaged (by the people who own the home), the upkeep is assured (or the house could fall down!) and many other factors.

Bu they will probably go with communal shelters which will be useless come time for them to be needed.

Karl, wanker. That is all.

From the SMH:

The Pentecostal church's leader, Pastor Danny Nalliah, claimed he had a dream about raging fires on October 21 last year and that he woke with "a flash from the Spirit of God: that His conditional protection has been removed from the nation of Australia, in particular Victoria, for approving the slaughter of innocent children in the womb".

Amazing! Cos I had a dream I beat him with a burning club.

I'm watching the BBC World News, the coverage is objective and genuinely compassionate.

The only news I watch these days is SBS or ABC, and I like to watch SBS because you get to see what else is happening in the world as well as what's going on nationally. Otherwise you'd believe that there isn't a world outside of Australia.

I know a bunch of Tasmanians (including myself) who completely subscribe to the notion that Karl Stefanovic is a tosser ever since the Beaconsfield mining thingo. He was such a wanker when he was here, that he even made Richard Carleton look good. And all Richard Carleton had to do to look good was keel over at a press conference (he always was a drama queen though, wasn't he?)

I thought I'd look up to see who this Danny Nalliah person was (no, I really don't watch the news, read the paper or keep up with anything remotely current affairs, I get most of my info from you guys - be scared now). I read the first line of that SMH article, Lewd Bob, and decided that was all I would ever need to know about the man. What a tosser.
